Latest Updates from Our Project:

Point of no return: release date is here!!!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Nov 26, 2022 at 03:36:36 AM

Welcome back, fellow travelers! Here’s the promised release update. Let's get to it!

It's been a long year for us but we're proud of what we've been able to accomplish to this day. As you already know, we've been making steady progress on the game, releasing content updates for the beta version through the last few months. The team has been hard at work creating the missing features of the game while also squashing bugs and implementing new quality of life features that you suggested on discord.

The truth is this has been a collaborative effort: We've been reading your feedback and changing certain aspects of the game to better fit your needs, making Chronos Builder a better map creation tool, and for that we're thankful! This, in turn, has slightly pushed back new content releases but it also means that the product you'll be getting soon is a far more robust one than it would have been without your intensive testing.

With all that said, this coming update will mark a big step in our campaign: we will release all of the core features of Chronos Builder next December 2nd , thus putting an end to the pre-release period.  This content update is by far our biggest one yet and we look forward to what you'll create with it!

But of course, this is not the end, there's still work to do: on top of the promised stretch goals, there's some quality of life improvements that will be addressed soon and maybe some other secret projects we've in mind for the future...;)

Here's a rundown of all of the new additions you'll get to experience in this coming 1.0 Update:

1.- Improved UI

The first thing you'll notice when you open the game is the new UI colors, which we changed to better fit the original concept of gold and blue. Also, seeing your videos and the information you have given us, we have decided to use white to highlight the interactive parts.

We've also simplified some menus and moved others around where it made sense. For example, the Chronos button has found a new home inside the toolbar where it fits better next to the autobuilder. Additionaly, the global lighting settings now share menu space with the weather effects inside the Effects tool!

You can also keep the taskbar open at all times so it wont annoy you anymore whenever you reach the top of your screen!

2.- Terraforming feature!

Terraforming has arrived. Land and rock will hold no secrets for you: paint the terraing, change its height or create rivers (not pools!) across it!

Moreover, you will be able to use different biomes to get the best maps... or get that dream environment where your players will meet their gruesome end!

3.- Weather effects

We will also introduce climate effects - How about a little rain to cool the spirits of a group of particularly motivated heroes?

4.- Share your art with the Community!

Do you want to share your creations, or do you want your maps to become a death trap for many other players around the world?

Well, you can now carry out those (or any other) evil plans thanks to the Community tool - we can't wait to see how far you can go!

5.- Autobuilder improvement!

Thanks to your feedback, we have made improvements to the autobuild system, to generate more consistent rooms in less time. Good news, right?

6.- Translation system

¿Cómo estáis, amigos? Chronos Builder now supports Spanish, English, French and Deutschl! ;)

 7.- Chronos Button!!!

Remember when we talked about turning your medieval tavern into a Cyberpunk nightclub or a fancy restaurant in the 1920s?

Now it's time to see how that change of era would affect it... and unleash your wildest ideas.

To resume...

The road has been hard and long... windy days and rainy nights have accompanied us in our progress, but our pace has been strong and constant.

But make no mistake: what has been achieved is thanks to your support. In the most difficult moments, we have always had your encouragement, urging us to keep fighting, to ignore those voices that tried to undermine our progress and motivation.

And now, at last, we have a launch date. And, although the road is not over, and we will have to improve and fix things, we should pause a little and look back...

... and be aware of how far we have come. Thanks to all of you.

Thank you from the entire MistWall Studio team!

Happy Halloween - Happy Chronos Building!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 01, 2022 at 09:03:08 AM

Welcome back, fellow travelers! Here’s the promised update, let's get to it!

1.- KEY RELEASE!!!

1.1.- Key release:

As you are reading this on Kickstarter, Discord, mail or our RRSS, the keys are being shipped to everyone.

We believe that Chronos Builder is at a mature enough stage to execute this early release, so finally you’ll be able to enjoy this project, for which you are responsible. Thank you very much for allowing us to make it happen!

As we already mentioned when we did the beta release, we did the shipment in blocks, to avoid blacklisting. Please, check your SPAM folder, and write us at [email protected] if you can't find your key. Give us four to five hours before claiming it, to make sure that all the codes have been sent.

1.2.- Redeem the key

To redeem the key on Steam, you can follow the instructions below:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/2A12-9D79-C3D7-F870

1.3.- And now... What now?

We expect from you maps, LOTS of maps. If you share them with us on Discord alongside your permission, we will publish them on our RRSS for the world to see! :D

And if you don't send them to us (so that your players don't know what dangers they are going to face, of course...), we just ask you to enjoy Chronos Builder as much as we have enjoyed shaping it.

2.- MAC & Linux version:

The first thing we want to say is, once again, that we apologize for the small delay that these versions will take.

On the other hand, we have no way of explaining how incredibly fantastic you guys have been. You have supported us in all the mails we have received. In ALL OF THEM. You can't even imagine how much it has meant to us, who are trying, as always, to do our best in the shortest time possible.

Thank you on behalf of the whole MistWall Studio team.

By the way, MAC / Linux versions are planned for the end of the year.

3.- Ways to communicate with us: Kickstarter, e-mail and Discord.

We will continue posting updates on Kickstarter, one per month approximately, as we are doing.

If you have any particular problem or doubt, you can always send us an e-mail to [email protected], where we will attend you, as always, as best as possible.

Finally, we have our Discord channel (https://discord.gg/W2YtXjS6Dc)

4.- Update

For this update, we have the next features:

4.1.- Fixes:

- Fixed props light switch to be a single button.

- Fixed Autobuilder sometimes spawning assets very slowly.

- Fixed slot selection to cancel immediately after selecting a new slot.

- Fixed click spawning triggering over UI menus.

- Fixed export resolution not updating when the export menu is open.

- Fixed Universal VTT files switching windows and doors assets.

- Fixed some assets not being properly aligned to the grid.

Warning  - Warning - Warning - Warning - Warning  - Warning - Warning - Warning:

-> Due to some adjustments, some walls have been disabled temporarily. This will cause

those walls to not load if you used them in a saved map. We will fix this issue as soon

as possible after release.

-> Due to some adjustments to the autobuilder system, walls only occupy one cell and some walls have been disabled temporarily. This will cause changes on your previously saved maps. Please, bare with us as we’re still mid-development. These issues won’t be present on final release. Thank you for understanding.

4.2.- New features:

On the other hand, we have also advanced new features in Chronos Builder. What are they? Read on!

- Added 295 new Victorian assets. Farm and Restaurant themes.

- Added procedural prop generation with Autobuilder.

- Added new map terrain.

- Tag system reworked and added new tags.

- Added pillars generation on corners to the algorithm.

--> Walls, windows and doors are now single layered (This can cause some walls to be

missing on previous map saves, but they shouldn’t be any issues during file loads).

--> Now, you can select wall packs in the Autobuilder UI, instead of selecting Walls, Windows and Doors separately.

--> Added pillars generation on corners to the algorithm.

5.- Roadmap:

As of this moment, this is our roadmap:

- November/December: Chronos Builder final version release (project finished!) + Bug fixes.

- December/January: Release of the MAC & Linux version + Bug fixes + release of the first available SG.

From there, we will continue with bug fixes and release of the rest of the SGs. Anyway, we need your feedback... -> Where do you want Chronos Builder to go? We listen to you at [email protected] or on Discord, as always - we're in your hands!

Thank you very much, enjoy!

Cheers!

October... interesting news!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 20, 2022 at 05:34:30 AM

Welcome everyone to a new Chronos Builder update, here we are again!

We have great news. Please read this update carefully

1.- First things first: release date.

We originally set a release date for the final version of Chronos Builder for October. We are not far from having it in our hands, but we’ll miss the deadline. :(

Are we anticipating a long delay? No. Our intention is to have a version that we can label as "complete" by the end of November/beginning of December.

From then on, we will focus on bugfixing and preparing the promised SGs!

2.- That was foreseen... what's the big news?

However, with everything we've been through, from sickness impediments to the logical problems that arise in a software development, we are humbly convinced that announcing a delay of one month over the initial Kickstarter date can be considered a "minor delay". We look forward to your understanding in this regard, we really do.

And, to sweeten that moment, we have prepared a major update, which we have been working on for the past few months.

The update is scheduled for Halloween... which is technically in October XD.

2.1.- Halloween update Part I: Bug fixes... the eternal struggle between the good code and the indomitable one!

We have a list of revised features. Do you want to know what they are?

- Fixed props light switch to be a single button.

- Fixed Autobuilder sometimes spawning assets very slowly.

- Fixed slot selection to cancel immediately after selecting a new slot.

- Fixed click spawning triggering over UI menus.

- Fixed export resolution not updating when the export menu is open.

- Fixed Universal VTT files switching windows and doors assets.

- Fixed some assets not being properly aligned to the grid.

2.2.- Halloween update Part II: New features.

- Autobuilder algorithm reworked.

  • Walls, windows and doors are now single layered.
  • Now, you can select wall packs in the Autobuilder UI, instead of selecting Walls, Windows and Doors separately.
  • Added pillars generation on corners to the algorithm.

2.3.- Halloween update Part III: Full beta release.

Yes, you read that right. We have decided that our backers without beta option, and who were expecting to enjoy Chronos Builder in October, can start using Chronos Builder as soon as we release the update. In October!!

- Oh, yeah!

- OH YEAH!

ALL BACKERS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE BETA STARTING WITH THE NEXT UPDATE!!!

Warning to navigators: of course, it will NOT be the final version. But you will be able to show us the level of maps you can reach. What will you be capable of? ;)

3.- MAC & Linux versions.

For our backers with MAC and Linux versions, we don't have a stable beta in any of the two supports. So, first of all, we apologize.

If you are an affected user and applicable for the following:

- If you have a Medieval pledge or higher.

- If you are waiting for the MAC or Linux version.

Send us an email to [email protected] from the same email address as your KS account. At that time, we will cancel your key and give you options to compensate for this problem.

Even if you don't want to make the compensation, please send us the email so that we can consider you for future compensation.

And, once again, we reiterate our apologies.

4.- In summary

Here’s a final run through of what we talked about.

- Next 2022/10/31 we will make an update with all the bugfixing and new features (including the autobuild tool!).

- As the update is done, keys will be released to all Chronos Builder backers (and we will be in October!!) :D

- If you have a Medieval pledge or higher and are waiting for the Mac or Linux version, send us an email to [email protected]. Your key will be cancelled, you will get a new one in the final release and we will give you options about it!

Last words:

Chronos Builder's journey is getting interesting, isn't it? We have gone through different phases, and you have always been there, by our side.

Now that the project takes the final stretch, we can only tell you two things:

1.- Where would you like us to go next? What do you expect from the future of Chronos Builder?

2.- Thank you very much. From the bottom of our hearts.

See you in a week and a half! Cheers!

Welcome, September. Here we go!
over 3 years ago – Sun, Sep 04, 2022 at 04:08:57 AM

Welcome everyone to a new update of Chronos Builder.

We hope you have had a few days of vacation. We tried to go to the beach, but we were kindly sent back to work. :D

So, what progress has been made this month? We'll show you right away!

1.- Progress: Bugfixing!

Bugs are unstoppable. Anyway, with your help, we're gradually narrowing them down... but we're sure more will appear!

This is the list of fixes:

 Fixed image export not updating the output resolution after the first export.

 Fixed transparent cyberpunk assets making items behind them invisible.

 Fixed colorpicker menu only previewing the scene light while changing the color.

 Fixed daytime illumination not being saved.

 Fixed gray menu background not disappearing during light previews.

 Fixed keybindings triggering while creating folders.

 Fixed naming folders crashing the game.

 Fixed assets previews “slipping” from the cursor while moving/rotating.

 Fixed stacked assets not moving alongside the asset below.

 Fixed assets not stacking from more than one level.

 Fixed quickpalette triggering while writing on save menus.

 Fixed columns assets not being able to move after spawn.

2.- Progress: Features

Added the option to turn off lights from assets.

-> When you select an asset that has lighting (e.g. a torch), you are given the option to turn off the light it emits. Only the light, to ease a little the load of Chronos on the PC.

Added the quickpalette tool for structural assets.

-> Before, the quickpalette did not support structural assets (doors, walls, etc), now it does.

Added scaling options via Left Control + Mouse Scroll while spawning/moving an asset.

-> In the same way that you can rotate an object when moving it using mouse scroll, now you can also change the scale using scroll + left control.

3.- Progress: Exporting

We have added VTT export options, including .uvtt and .json (for Foundry) extensions.

We need your help here (pretty please? :D). There is a lot of testing done by our side, however, if something doesn't export correctly, let us know!

We are ANXIOUS to see your maps in VTT's. The time has come for you to make your players suffer! Bwahahaha! XD

4.- Progress: NEW VICTORIAN ASSETS

Do you need Victorian maps, do you want to create haunted mansions or gloomy graveyards, where at nightfall you can hear strange wailing?

Well, here they are! We have added a total of 168 new assets, some of them are very combinable with medieval and cyberpunk environments.

We're looking forward to seeing your maps!

Here you have some samples:

What do you think? We are waiting for your comments!

5.- Roadmap:

It is difficult to make an exact roadmap, since the developments (until they have a sufficient level of completion to be uploaded to the Beta version) have deadlines that are difficult to quantify.

Anyway, here is our forecast for September.

- New block of assets... to close an environment (surprise, surprise).

- Autobuilder  update

- More export options (Let's roll...).

- Linux/Mac versions.

- Bug fixing.

Please, PLEASE, remember that this is approximate and that software development is "alive", so we may modify our roadmap at some point in the future.

6.- Acknowledgments:

We can't close this update without thanking all of you backers. First, for trusting us, and then, for continuing to support us in the development of this project.

The work is taking shape, and we still have a lot to offer you. Thank you very much from the whole team.

We will have another update at the end of the month. ;)

Take care! Cheers!

July Update - Here we go!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Jul 09, 2022 at 12:38:14 AM

Greetings, dear backers!

We told you that we would have a big update at the end of July, but we want to release a very important block now, so you can keep making maps as awesome as you have been doing so far.

Cyberpunk pack released!

Yes, the time has come to release the first pack of cyberpunk assets! (Hooray, hooray!

We have added 214 new assets, for Night Bar and Street themes. Please remember we had announced 25 assets per theme -> 100 of them for a full environment. However, our 3D team, leaded by Javier García, has worked non-stop to give you more... and more... and more! :D

We leave here some examples of the initial idea (conceptual) and its later execution in 3D. What do you think?

Also, from our art department, they wanted to share a step by step from the initial ideas of a scenario (a decrepit pub where you will surely find a fight), to its final assembly... here it goes!

Although you have shown us that you are able to create atmospheres that we had not even imagined. So, we are looking forward to see what you are able to do with this new package! (Since there are many other concepts that we know you will enjoy and use wisely! :D)

If you haven't already, you can join our Discord (https://discord.gg/mFSJV5nv) and share your creations. We will mention you in our social networks!

In addition, we leave you a detail of posters designed by Juanca Ortega (our art design leader and the author of all the sketches you see above), for you to decorate the walls of your clubs XD

Bugfixing:

We have some cool bugfixing too!

- Fixed items height changing while moving.

- Fixed items manual scale altering their position incorrectly.

- Fixed items not being able to go lower than its initial height position.

- Fixed items with the same position/rotation not moving properly in groups.

- Fixed wall assets not rotating properly around double walls.

- Fixed 1x2 assets not rotating properly around walls.

- Fixed menus keybinds triggering while writing in inputs.

And now... What's next?

Our roadmap has been adjusted to the bugs you have found since the beta release. Three small updates have been made to fix the quickest ones, and we've taken a lot of notes with your suggestions.

We have on the table to improve the export, both as image and for VTT's, the port to other O.S. and finalize some very spectacular tools. There is still a lot of work to do, but we are in high spirits! :D

We thank you for your trust, and we will continue with our development, taking care of the details and looking forward to exceed your expectations. Thank you very much!

Cheers!
